We are here to help our patients heal with a number of different methods. The Graston Technique is another one of the many tools that are offered here at our Alpharetta office. Take some time to learn about how this soft tissue therapy. The goal of this is to identify fascial restrictions or scar tissue that has formed due to trauma of the muscles, ligaments, tendons, or soft tissue.

What is the Graston Technique?

Clinicians use Graston Technique’s stainless-steel instruments to comb over and “catch” on fibrotic tissue, which immediately identifies areas of restriction. Once the tissue has been identified, clinicians use the instruments to address scar tissue so it can be absorbed by the body.

How Does The Graston Technique work?

Patients will first receive a thorough evaluation of the injured area. After coming to the conclusion that GT is the best option, the patient will warm the tissue with an exercise. After the tissue is warmed, the clinician will apply GT to the area. After treatment, the patient will perform either a stretch or strengthening exercise to help facilitate proper alignment of the scar tissue fibers. Most sessions last between 12-20 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area. Patients usually receive 1-2 treatment sessions per week for 4-5 weeks for maximum relief. By the end of the 4th session, patients should see significant change.
